Born in Palermo on 25.01.1976
Beyond being an emerging artist, MarcoBennici is also an architect and designer who divides his working time between TRJ (which represents the most important design brands in Sicily) and other means of expression. Marco considers photography as one of his design tools, and the one he most prefers out of all of them is indeed the camera shot. His artistic training was born and is growing thanks to his experiences abroad and through his comparison of, curiosity for and attraction towards all that is different. In his work(s), the studied use of light, contrasted with that of shadows, gives a particular effect of three-dimensionality and character. An example is the study of light in the photo of the Cathedral of Cefalù, selected for the exhibition of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sicily in the Palazzo Sant’Elia in Palermo. Another significant moment in his career was the exhibition entitled "Rosalia", in the summer of 2017, at the exhibition spaces of the Falcone-Borsellino international airport in Palermo, where one of his photos, "Libera", depicts Saint Rosalia in a contemporary light. In addition to telling the story of the architectural space, the artist has for some years now also focused significantly on human nature, analyzing various facets from the world of tattooing to that of bondage. Symbols, decoration and, even more so, the imperfection of the human body are often present in his work(s). In every photography project, lightness opposes heaviness, light opposes shade, abundance opposes emptiness. Contrast becomes a balance.
